Slim Down Saturday January 18

It's that time again! I am doing it this time. I am. I even think about this linky when I am making food choices! I also think about my Biggest Loser Weigh In at work. Whatever works, right?!
 Ultimate Goal: I am soooo ready to be at my pre-teaching weight! 

Gain/Loss For the Week: -6 lbs. Super excited for this! Because I eliminated gluten, sugar, and dairy, (I had dairy when I caved and had Starbucks..) but I know I wasn't as focused as I need to be. This week will be better. I seriously gained VERY quickly over the holidays, so I will probably lose quickly. This is my pattern. I hope to just continue to lose and then maintain. No more gaining.

Total since starting: -6 lbs.

Positives for the week: I did not have sugar. And, I wanted it. BAD. It was a tough week and I totally imagined eating candy that doesn't have gluten, but I didn't! Starbursts and Skittles...I stared at them in the grocery aisle. I really stared at them. But, I resisted!!! Yay, me!

Something to do better: I'm not eating enough fruit or having enough water. I know both of these things will help me stay on track. I will do this. 

Goal for next week: Drink more tea! I love tea. Last week I drank tea a few times...
 
I adore my KEURIG. Adore. I tried tea in it, last week. I did not buy the tea. A student gave them to me as a gift. You see, at first...I thought..I'm never buying tea for my KEURIG. I love my tea kettle way too much. I also thought that's just way to spendy for tea!!! But, then I tried it. Oh. I just love it!!!! It's smooth and yummy and just so easy to make. LOVED it! I am definitely buying this tea THIS WEEK! 

One Word: Remember. I need to make sure I remember to stay on track. I need to remember my goal. 

Tonight, I made pea soup for the week! So yum. No bread for me...sure does look yummy, though! Actually, the pea soup is so delicious, I didn't even miss the bread. Really.

 I also made this fun snack! I learned this trick awhile back...I think at a Weight Watchers meeting years ago... But, I wanted to also include easy directions and a picture (since I didn't take one)! I found this link on Pinterest!! Click the picture and it will take you to the directions.

Slim Down Saturday Week 2... Sort Of

To keep up with my One Little Word, Believe, ( I posted about that here) I have decided to keep myself accountable. I have decided to join Third Grade Tidbits and her Slim Down Saturdays Linky!

 I have been VERY focused on eating healthy and getting back down to my pre-teaching weight since August. I had a BIG setback this holiday season! I was doing soooooooo well. And, then I completely sabotaged myself. But, live and learn, right?! 

This is my first week joining this linky, so I do not have a loss to share. Next week! I weigh in every Friday for my school's Biggest Loser contest! We started on 1/10. 

I am really bad about eating breakfast! I always have coffee, but run out of time for breakfast. I am going to focus on oatmeal this week! I.Will.Eat.Breakfast.Everyday.
I.Will.

I will also drink MORE water this week! I don't always drink enough water during the day. But, my goal is to drink two bottles of water on my drive home from work each day (I have a 30 minute drive home). I can do this! I Believe.

 often! I just love her recipes! If you follow the Weight Watchers Plan, she gives you the points for each recipe. She also gives calories, fat, etc. I love it! And, I just love her recipes!!! I will continue to share some of my favorites!

My One Little Word

I have been thinking about my OLW -one little word- for a few days. There are so many -one little words- that fit. So many that I need to remember. 
Faith. Strength. Courage. Happy. Healthy. Brave.
Believe.
 All of these words are amazing and fit my life. They could all be my One Little Word. But I think the one that encompasses them all in my life, the most, is...
 Believe in the plan. Believe in the process. Believe in yourself. Believe you can do it. Believe. 

My life is not where I thought it would be. I thought I would be married with four little ones running around. It.Was.My.Plan.
It's been my plan since I was young. Be a teacher. Check. Be a writer. Does a blog count? Kind of, right? Check. Be a wife. Nope. Be a mommy. Nope. It just didn't happen. I have made a lot of goals for myself, in my life. Get my Masters. Check. Run a marathon. Check. Buy a house. Check. The goals that I have met are all goals I can control. I can't control God's plan. No matter how hard I have tried. The man I am meant to marry, isn't ready, isn't the one, or I just haven't met him yet. I have finally accepted (after a lot of soul searching, getting angry, and crying..a lot) that being a mommy is not in God's plan. I am a mommy to my doggies and I am a mommy to all of my students, while they are in my care. I know it's not the same and I was sad for a very long time that being a mommy was not in my future. I now accept and know that God has a plan. 
I Believe.

Believe. Believe in my health. I am a yo-yo dieter. I always have been. I gain. I lose. I gain. I lose. You get the picture. I do not know the definition of maintain. I have celiac disease. I should never eat gluten. Ever. But, sometimes, I do. Usually, after I have done very well losing weight because I eliminated gluten, dairy, and sugar. Yep. All of them. They all trigger something in me. Just when I think, I am back on plan and on plan because of my health, not just to lose weight...I eat gluten. Total sabotage. I am now back on track for my health. So, I need to Believe. Believe I can do this. Believe in myself. Believe in my health.

 I plan to revisit this One Little Word often. I will also share how I am doing with my weight loss, healthy lifestyle, and exercise goals. I know this is a teaching blog, but so often the first thing to go, when we get submerged into teaching, is our eating habits, our exercise routine, and ultimately, our health. I hope it's okay that I start sharing my health journey with you, as well. A healthy teacher is a happy teacher. Right?!

January Currently

It's already January?! WoW! The school year is almost half over! I feel like we still have so much to learn, but this is always when the best learning seems to happen. Routines are in place. Rules are mastered. We *hope*... When routines and rules are mastered, the learning seems to just flow! I can't wait to watch my firsties continue to grow!
