Monday Made It: Crayon Cans!

I LOVE Monday Made It!!! LOVE. I have been meaning to post this...all month..! I am linking up with 4th Grade Frolics and her Linky!

 Have you seen these crayon cans? I have been wanting to make one for awhile. I am so glad I did! It's super easy, adorable and makes the perfect teacher gift!
Items you will need:
*crayons
*ribbon
*scissors
*empty, washed out can
*hot glue gun
*hot glue sticks
*something cute to put inside{optional}

Step 1: I made my crayon cans for a meet-up gift, so I purchased a bunch of cans! I actually used the small, thin cans of diced tomatoes (store brand). I washed them out, let them dry, and they were ready.
 Step 2: I noticed that my cans were a little too tall, so I decided to add ribbon to the bottom of the can. You can pick any ribbon that matches. You don't see that much of it, but it does hide the bottom of the can!

Step 3: Make sure you have your glue gun plugged in and glue sticks ready...it took quite a bit of glue! Next, cut your ribbon to fit your can.

Step 4: Glue the ribbon to your can, in sections. If you try to glue it all at once, it will dry. So, just glue a few inches at a time.
Step 5:Before you glue your crayons on, you will want to line them up. This makes it easier to grab them. Plus, if you want them in a particular order, you would organize that here. How many crayons you need, will depend on the size of your can.
 Step 6: Add your crayons to the can. Start by adding a little bit of hot glue at a time...enough for about 3 crayons. After you add the crayons to the glue, press the crayons down. Continue adding crayons until the crayons meet back in the middle.

Step 7: Add something to the inside of the can! I added Starbursts to these cans, as a fun, little treat! But, I plan on using mine in my classroom as a pen/pencil holder!

 I'm also going to make these crayon cans for our office staff, my grade level, and all of our new teachers as a "welcome back to school" gift! Are you going to make this fun, easy, quick little gift for yourself or someone else? You should! They are just too cute not to!
